No More Cash at Toll Booths Starting April 10

Following a government announcement requiring a totally digital tolling system, cash payments at toll booths on India's national highways would no longer be accepted as of April 10.  In an effort to lessen traffic, increase transparency, and improve commuter convenience at more than 1,150 fee plazas across the country, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) revealed that all transactions will now be completed through FASTag and UPI. It is anticipated that the change will improve operating efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize traffic flow. Toll rates have been updated in tandem with this change.  Expressway fees in Uttar Pradesh would increase by 1.5% to 3.5%, while passenger car owners on national highways may experience an increase of up to 10%. For example, the toll for cars on the Lucknow–Agra Expressway has increased to ₹675, while the toll for two-wheelers is now ₹335. The current fees on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway are ₹295 for four-wheelers and ₹145 for tw...

No Electricity Refrigerator innovation of India

This is the success story of Gujarat, where a traditional potter named Mansukhbhai Prajapati developed the most useful and ecological invention—a refrigerator that runs without electricity. The concept was brought to light during the Gujarat earthquake in 2001 , when he lost all of his clay stock. Inspired by the natural cooling properties of traditional Indian clay pottery (such as a matka ), he started working with traditional craftsmanship and practical design to create an inexpensive refrigerator made entirely of clay after a newspaper published a picture of his broken water filter with the headline "poor man's broken fridge." This headline became a turning point. Evaporative cooling is the basis of the operation: The upper area is filled with water. Water is taken in by the porous clay walls. Heat disappears from the surface as absorbed water evaporates. The chamber gently cools as a result of this process. Fruits, vegetables, and even milk can be kept fresh usin...

Maggie Wrappers turned into Products

At Ecokaari they used to manage waste differently; THEY COLLECT MAGGIE WRAPPERS FROM DONATION OR FROM WHERE IT IS DISCARDED. After that, they wash and sanitize them, and with the use of scissors, they cut the long stripes of these wrappers, and with the use of a traditional charkha , the waste plastic strips are rolled.  These strips are transformed into fabric using a handloom ; these fabrics are designed and stitched to make handcrafted, upcycled products made by their women artisans. These products vary in different forms, sometimes used as a different kind of bag, pouch, wallet, etc.  At www.ecokaari.org under waste plastic donation information , you can donate the plastics and other discarded waste (as mentioned on the page) as donations. This can be a good initiative for being a green warrior. This can also be a green, sustainable initiative for the ecosystem.  SOURCE - ECOKAARI (https://ecokaari.org/)

Because of this electricity bills kept rising for many low- and middle-class income and vulnerable communities and escaping this heat simply wasn't possible because of earnings and daily works.  That's when IAS Supriya Sahu began searching for a solution to save people from this heat trap. her answers were hidden on the roofs which was just above people's head. The Inspiring Story of Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh

A physician from Hyderabad, India named Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh is an inspiring instance of persistence and dedication to public health. Her eight-year battle against misleading marketing tactics in the food and beverage sector has had a lasting impact on the battle for children's health and consumer rights. A concerning ability that Dr. Sivaranjani saw was the marketing of sugary drinks by a number of corporations under the pretense of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS). These goods were mislabeled to look like medically authorized dehydration remedies, and children frequently consumed them. But instead of aiding in children's recovery from dehydration, its high sugar content may be injurious to their health. Dr. Sivaranjani set out to make the labeling of these items more transparent after realizing the possible risks. She relentlessly promoted advocating more stringent laws, educating parents, medical professionals, and regulatory bodies about the problem.   Her campaign...

Earth to get a new gift - Ocean

The Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden will soon welcome a new ocean and are also expected to merge with it, and it will create a rare tri-junction of large water bodies, As Africa is splitting into two separate landmasses. The process is very slow, but it will be reshaping and giving a new geography to Earth after millions of years.  The phenomenon is taking place along the East African Rift , which runs from Ethiopia's Afar region through Kenya to Tanzania and Mozambique in the southeast. Beneath this area, the African tectonic plate is divided into two parts—the Nubian block to the west and the Somali block to the east. This happens when magma from beneath the earth rises due to fractures that occur due to earthquakes ; as magma pushes upward, it creates artificial watercourses that move surrounding rocks aside, deepening the fault. Over millions of years, seawater will eventually flood in, which forms a new basin; scientists estimate this could take around 5 to 10 million ye...

Celebrating 11years of "Made in India"

25 September 2025 marks the 11th anniversary of " Made in India ," launched by PM Modi in 2014. This initiative has transformed India into a global manufacturing powerhouse. It was mainly launched to change India into a global hub for design and manufacturing, and these vocal-for-local initiatives were also the driving path. In 11 years, Made in India transformed India into a global manufacturing hub. Smartphone production surged 5x, defense exports reached 90+ countries, and MSMEs expanded globally. We look forward to the next chapter, which is about deeper innovation, stronger sustainability, and even greater global collaboration. Made in India 2.0 is a bold upgrade to India’s manufac...

Women and Financial Independence in India

Financial independence does not only mean balancing money; it also means having the power to make decisions for oneself and for the rest of the family, but that only works in hand when you work smart rather than just being naive. This gap can be bridged when financial investment and literacy work together. According to the SEBI/AMFI report in March 2024, about 33% of individual mutual fund assets were held by women. But still there are very few investors in smaller cities that need to be encouraged to uplift the women's well-being and financial situation. And to improve these conditions, SEBI has proposed new rules to increase these investments. These reforms include extra commissions for distributors and promoting small-ticket SIPs , making mutual funds more accessible.  The SEBI reforms, especially the push for first-time women investors, echo AMFI ’s goals of financial inclusion and gender balance in investment markets. If these reforms take place on a large scale, it...

Railway tracks with solar panels As India is moving towards sustainability, there is a greater move adopted by Indian Railways to meet the net zero emission goal by adapting solar panels on railway tracks to adapt a move towards greener and sustainable transport . Varanasi has become the first city to have portable solar panels between railway tracks. In order to put solar panels between the rails without interfering with train traffic, BLW has launched this trial project in its workshop line number 19. The installation process was created locally. According to a statement from the railways, "These solar panels are not only long-lasting and effective, but they can also be removed for maintenance and seasonal adaptation." Indian Railways has 1.2 lakh kilometers of track. The railroads can place solar panels between the tracks by using the yard lines . Since solar panels are installed in the spaces between tracks, no land acquisition is necessary for this plan. According t...

Kerala's schools adopt a new way of learning.

Teaching is the way where what you do reflects more than what you say. While teaching, there always has been a fight among students to sit in the front, back, or middle. where we always get a tag of talented students sitting in front, an average one in the middle, and naughty and less than average ones in the back bench . But this teaching method is all set to give farewell to this old traditional method. There was much curiosity and nostalgia related to these methods, as there are quotes that "the best students and professionals come from backbenchers ." There are even rumors that teachers focus more on the first bencher , as they are more studious and hardworking. But the new way of teaching adopted in Kerala schools is a U-shaped seating arrangement in the classroom that is designed to place teachers at the center, ensuring that no student is left behind. This model was inspired by the Malayalam film Sthanarthi Sreekuttan. This could also lead to more inclusive, ...
