Maggie Wrappers turned into Products

At Ecokaari they used to manage waste differently; THEY COLLECT MAGGIE WRAPPERS FROM DONATION OR FROM WHERE IT IS DISCARDED. After that, they wash and sanitize them, and with the use of scissors, they cut the long stripes of these wrappers, and with the use of a traditional charkha , the waste plastic strips are rolled.  These strips are transformed into fabric using a handloom ; these fabrics are designed and stitched to make handcrafted, upcycled products made by their women artisans. These products vary in different forms, sometimes used as a different kind of bag, pouch, wallet, etc.  At www.ecokaari.org under waste plastic donation information , you can donate the plastics and other discarded waste (as mentioned on the page) as donations. This can be a good initiative for being a green warrior. This can also be a green, sustainable initiative for the ecosystem.  SOURCE - ECOKAARI (https://ecokaari.org/)

Earth to get a new gift - Ocean

The Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden will soon welcome a new ocean and are also expected to merge with it, and it will create a rare tri-junction of large water bodies, As Africa is splitting into two separate landmasses. The process is very slow, but it will be reshaping and giving a new geography to Earth after millions of years.  The phenomenon is taking place along the East African Rift , which runs from Ethiopia's Afar region through Kenya to Tanzania and Mozambique in the southeast. Beneath this area, the African tectonic plate is divided into two parts—the Nubian block to the west and the Somali block to the east. This happens when magma from beneath the earth rises due to fractures that occur due to earthquakes ; as magma pushes upward, it creates artificial watercourses that move surrounding rocks aside, deepening the fault. Over millions of years, seawater will eventually flood in, which forms a new basin; scientists estimate this could take around 5 to 10 million ye...

rainbows changing location

A recent scientific study suggests that rainbows , which have long been regarded as a sign of beauty unity, connection, love and hope. Because rainbows are produced when sunlight filters through atmospheric raindrops , variations in precipitation could have an impact on how frequently they occur. The timing and location of rainbows are expected to shift due to climate change , which is changing cloud cover and rainfall patterns worldwide, according to researchers. A global database of rainbow photographs submitted by individuals worldwide was established by scientists. Then, using climate and weather data , they developed a computer model to forecast rainbow occurrences . The model was evaluated using three potential future climatic scenarios as well as present climate data . The increase, however, will not be dispersed equally. While 66 to 79 percent of the world's land areas may experience more rainbow days, 21 to 34 percent are predicted to experience fewer. Accord...

Historic victory for Uttar Pradesh

Swachh Survekshan   is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in villages, cities and towns across India. It was launched as part of the  Swachh Bharat Abhiyan , which aimed to make India clean.  The first survey was undertaken in 2016 and covered 73 cities by 2020 the survey had grown to cover 4242 cities and was said to be the largest cleanliness survey in the world. The surveys are carried out by  Quality Council of India .   Survey in 2020 was weighted on 6000 points. The criteria and weightages for different components of sanitation related aspects used for the survey were: a) Service Level Progress-1300 marks b) Citizen feedback – 1500 marks c) Direct observation – 1500 marks d) GFC (SWM) 1,000 Marks; ODF /ODF+ / ODF++ 500 Marks e) Average ranking of Quarterly Assessments (April 2019 to June 2019, July 2019 to Sep 2019, Oct 2019 to Dec 2019)-200 Marks This survey is organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and marks t...

Saving Trees from Japanese Technique

For over a decade, Ramachandra from Hyderabad has been quietly leading one of India 's biggest environmental missions -saving 1,50,000+ trees using an ancient method called tree translocation . What began as heartbreak over trees being cut on a highway turned into a lifelong mission.  He left a stable insurance job, faced skepticism and threats, but never gave up. the 38-year-old has put his money where his mouth is, running the Green Morning Horticulture Services Private Limited , a company based in Hyderabad that specializes in tree translocation. Tree translocation is a process in which trees are uprooted whole instead of being cut down and re-planted at a different location.  From Hyderabad Metro to Delhi flyovers , his company has rescued trees across India-one root at a time. He adds, "Trees are being cut every day. We need more people to step up and find solutions. The future depends on it."  Tree translocation is by no means a new practice; it is said to...

Earth's shocking discovery

There are many changes in human life that go unnoticed in our daily life. One such is that of Earth, where scientists in a scientifically significant development have discovered that Earth is rotating slightly faster than usual . These significant changes cause the length of the days to be shortened. It has a critical impact on global time systems . When scientists are talking about the shorter days, it doesn't mean that there are changes in minutes or hours, but the changes are in mere milliseconds . Everything has a method of measurement in its own way.  One such method where scientists measure this is through high-precision atomic clocks . An atomic clock is a clock that measures time by monitoring the resonant frequency of atoms . It is based on atoms having different energy levels. Electron states in an atom are associated with different energy levels, and in transitions between such states, they interact with a very specific frequency of electromagnetic radiation . This clock...

End of life of fuel vehicle in Delhi

Vehicles that have exceeded their life years, that is, 10 years for diesel vehicles and 15 years for petrol vehicles, will now not run or be fueled from today in Delhi. Air pollution in Delhi has always been a major cause of health issues. This is not only because of vehicles, but also there was a contribution from the unhealthy environment and the building of apartments, fewer green spaces, etc. This plan was walked out by the transport department , involving its personnel from the organization along with Delhi belief police and the municipal corporation of Delhi . There will be police officers posted at each of the identified petrol pumps to monitor and prevent the refueling of such vehicles. This is a major step to curb vehicle pollution, and it is starting on Tuesday, July 1 . This is according to the direction of the Commission for Air Quality Management to curb the pollution, as last year the air quality index was so bad that it was becoming hazardous for people to live and b...

Protection of planet by Indigenous community

Indigenous communities are one who live with nature and love their peace. They are deeply rooted with knowledge and sustainable practices that could help modern world to level sustainability, tradition, and protection etc.  These community are often neglected and they have been sideline from their rights. But they have always been living in the peace of the world and they are regarded as guardians of The Earth . At least a quarter of world's land area is own and management are used by or occupied by these indigenous people. Indigenous people treat land, river, forest etc as there god and they work and protect them as their own child. They play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation or natural resource management or climate resilience. One such indigenous communities by women in Odisha have created dream abs which documented dwindling resources and advocating for restrogation and highlighting their role in climate action. Indigenous communities in the Amazon rainforest main...

Clean Water- a basic right

As air is mandatory to breathe in a clean environment it same for water which is the basic necessity but it is denied in many of the places. Many people do struggle to have access for the clean drinking water but it has become a concerning and alarming issue which has to be resolved. As technology is evolving and the fact that the nation is growing but still there are many issues which need a glance for the justice to be served. There are few things such as water, air, food some basic necessity and need which is our privilege not our right to be served with. Clean water drive is being monitored by UNICEF , but still one and four people like safe drinking water and comparely it's almost half of the world's population that do not have access to it and its not only about water it's about privilege to be earned and the sanitation services provided to access it. In India there has been progress and advancement made with jal Jeevan mission in 2024 to overcome these downfall but...

Our climate is changing why aren't we?

Global warming isn't a prediction, it's happening. Global warming is a major environmental problem that refers to the gradual increase in the Earth’s average temperature due to human activities. This happens mainly because of the buildup of greenhouse gasses (GHGs) like carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) in the atmosphere. These gasses trap heat, causing what is known as the “ greenhouse effect .” They are released from burning fossil fuels (like coal, oil, and natural gas), industrial processes, cutting down forests, and certain farming practices. While global warming is a worldwide issue, countries like India, with many people and different climates, are particularly affected.   In India, both cities and villages are feeling the negative effects of global warming. Big cities like Delhi and Mumbai are seeing more frequent and intense heat waves . The large populations and concrete buildings in these cities hold onto heat, making temperatures d...

When The Ground Shifts

We cannot stop natural disasters but we can army ourselves with knowledge, so many lives wouldn't have to be lost. Landslides are one of the most destructive natural disasters, occurring when masses of rock, earth, or debris move down a slope due to gravity. They are often triggered by a combination of natural factors such as heavy rainfall , earthquakes , volcanic activity, and human-induced activities like deforestation , mining, and construction on unstable land. Recent landslides across the globe, such as those seen in parts of Asia, South America, and the U.S., underscore the growing risks posed by climate change and unsustainable land management practices. Causes of Landslides 1. Rainfall and Flooding: Heavy rainfall is a leading cause of landslides, particularly in regions with steep terrain and loose soils. When the ground becomes saturated with water, it loses its cohesion, making it prone to sliding. In regions experiencing prolonged rains, like monsoon areas in Southea...

Why every city needs a nature to breathe

As a human body cannot live without breathing it is same like City which cannot live without the nature. If the human want to live a peaceful life and want to have a liveable, breathable cities for the running future then we all must plan to protect and priorities green spaces and protect our environment from pollution.  In this blog we will cover about importance of having a green nature surrounding us.  As we can see last year Delhi recorded the highest number in pollution which is very hazardous for health and life of people. As we can see urban spaces are going more grey and growing fast with rush in city life is mostly covers concrete towers, crowded streets and honking traffic which often contributes to the pollution and in this running life we often forget the most important and vital role of nature to breathe. Green areas or gardens or green life are not just luxury they are lifeline for future health and life. Parks, trees, lakes, forest play a social role in improvin...
