| E-Sanjeevani |
A platform launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it is India’s flagship telemedicine initiative designed to bridge healthcare gaps, especially in rural and remote areas.
The system operates in two formats:
eSanjeevani-HWC (Provider-to-Provider)—Health workers at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs assist patients in consulting with doctors at tertiary health centers.
eSanjeevaniOPD (Patient-to-Provider)—Citizens can directly consult doctors from home using smartphones or computers.
It helps to address the shortage of medical professionals or experts in areas that lack basic medical necessity, and it also helps to connect with experts in real time without any difficulty in transportation from one place to another. Launched under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, eSanjeevani supports the government’s aim of transforming over 1.76 lakh sub-health centers into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, offering comprehensive primary care. With the development of AI, we have seen companies and other medical institutes switching their services online with the help of AI-integrated apps, and with this promotion, we have also seen that this app is also AI-generated, and it will help enhance clinical decision-making and service delivery.
Its app was started way back in November 2019 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. Its achievements have been recognized through multiple national and international awards, including the Digital India Platinum Award (2020), the SKOCH Gold Award (2021), and the Global Digital Health Innovation Award (2022).
It has achieved millions of consultations, showing its high reach in vulnerable populations and areas.
