Teaching is the way where what you do reflects more than what you say. While teaching, there always has been a fight among students to sit in the front, back, or middle. where we always get a tag of talented students sitting in front, an average one in the middle, and naughty and less than average ones in the back bench.
But this teaching method is all set to give farewell to this old traditional method. There was much curiosity and nostalgia related to these methods, as there are quotes that "the best students and professionals come from backbenchers." There are even rumors that teachers focus more on the first bencher, as they are more studious and hardworking. But the new way of teaching adopted in Kerala schools is a U-shaped seating arrangement in the classroom that is designed to place teachers at the center, ensuring that no student is left behind. This model was inspired by the Malayalam film Sthanarthi Sreekuttan.
This could also lead to more inclusive, conservative, and eliminating the last rows that are often neglected or distracted. But this model catches India's attention because it could help in deep cognitive understanding and could also encourage critical thinking, and it could also encourage development such as writing, mathematics, or public speaking—skills acquired through trial, error, and refinement. For teachers, the U-shaped model is equally beneficial. It helps them identify key learning milestones, enabling timely support and encouragement when students face difficulties. Teachers can design more effective curricula by incorporating spiral learning, where topics are revisited with increasing complexity.
