Starting April 1st, several major banks in India are updating their ATM rules to align with the new financial year. These changes will affect how customers withdraw cash and how transactions are counted and charged.
HDFC Bank will now include UPI-based ATM withdrawals in your monthly quota of free transactions. Previously, these were treated separately. Customers get 5 free transactions at HDFC ATMs and 3 (in metro cities) or 5 (in non-metro cities) at other bank ATMs. Exceeding the limit will incur a ₹23 fee per transaction, excluding taxes.
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has revised daily withdrawal limits for certain debit cards. Depending on the card type, customers can now withdraw between ₹50,000 and ₹75,000 per day. Some cards that previously allowed ₹100,000 have had their limits reduced.
Jio Payments Bank is introducing a new QR-based cash withdrawal method. Customers can scan a UPI QR code provided by a bank representative, authorize the transaction via their mobile app, and receive cash instantly. This aims to make withdrawals more secure and convenient.
These updates are designed to streamline ATM usage and enhance security, but they may also affect transaction costs and limits for many users.
