Responsibility of Reporting in a Misinformation Age


 As the era of delivering everything in a snap of second has made life in a urgent situation to be handled. Where the role of the responsible reporter is not just to present half truth or misinformation or any manipulated views to the public but it's about delivering facts and necessary voices and news that empower citizen voices. In a age were breaking news breaks every minute it's becoming very difficult to identify and verify that information whether it is true or false.

Misinformation refers to miss leading content that is spread intentionally or unintentionally through social or digital or traditional media. It is a fact based report by the Reuters Institute that 64% of the news consumed by the world is false or miss leading news either it is presented online or in traditional media methods. There is a very basic example of covid-19 where during the pandemic there was miss information spread that drinking bleach cures Covid, but that's a very normal call to verify news and guard your health because such news causes panic and sometimes violence. It also creates confusion distrust in the people towards the media and it also has the capability to spread faster due to social media apps without checking the facts. 

Journalist are the one who are more than news presenter. Public regard them as truth seekers and public watch dogs. A basic journalism course teaches the students to clarify the difference between the facts or opinions and it also guide us to verify sources and fat check and even cross check with your credible sources before reporting. As people they don't this consume the news they start at violently or dangerously regarding the news. Even one small mispronunciations or false news delivered can harm there reputation and their career. 

There are always ways to check whether the news is verified or not and there are some credible and noncredible sources to identify the news and methods to check the news or picture and these are as followings: 
1. There are few verification tools such as Google lens where you can search for the picture to check its credibility. 
2. Even you have the tools such as keyword search to verify the content that leads you to the prominent news. 
3. Date, time and location are most important tool to verify the news and its very quick easy and handy. 
4. Invid is a powerful tool to search for the videos that are being circulated and it is verified through origins and context and possible manipulations of video content. 

Fact checking always built a good connection between the media and the readers. It also opens the gate of empowerment among the individual by providing them the correct information that helps them in future building and decision making. It also helps public to stay aware about the public policy that can guide them with abundance of their right. Journalism has always been about responsibility, ethics and coverage and let's not drive against from our motive. Their pen can calm nation or ignite panic so every reporter or journalist must only report the verified content to educate and restore public interest.

According to reports, WhatsApp is creating a new feature called Guest Chats that would let users chat individuals without a WhatsApp account. According to reports, the feature allows direct browser contact with non-WhatsApp users by means of a secure chat link. Users can invite non-WhatsApp contacts to secure discussions using the "Guest Chats" function. Using the "Invite a Friend" feature, a WhatsApp user can create a link and distribute it by email, SMS, or other channels. The recipient has two options: download WhatsApp or use a browser to continue as a guest. Indian Railways Unveils New Ticketing Rules: Easier Boarding, Fairer Refunds

As part of Indian Railways' duty to undertake 52 reforms in 52 weeks, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has proposed five significant initiatives. The modifications include construction quality, salt and vehicle transportation, boarding rules, and ticket cancellation and refunds. Passengers who cancel their tickets more than 72 hours before to departure will only be charged a flat minimum fee under the new ticketing rules. 25% of the ticket will be removed if the cancellation is made between 72 and 24 hours prior to departure. Cancellations made between 24 and 8 hours prior to departure will result in a 50% refund; cancellations made fewer than 8 hours prior will result in no refund. In addition, any railway counter in the country can now revoke counter tickets. Additionally, boarding regulations have been lifted; instead of the previous restriction on chart preparation time, passengers can now change their boarding location up to 30 minutes prior to departure. No More Cash at Toll Booths Starting April 10

Following a government announcement requiring a totally digital tolling system, cash payments at toll booths on India's national highways would no longer be accepted as of April 10.  In an effort to lessen traffic, increase transparency, and improve commuter convenience at more than 1,150 fee plazas across the country, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) revealed that all transactions will now be completed through FASTag and UPI. It is anticipated that the change will improve operating efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize traffic flow. Toll rates have been updated in tandem with this change.  Expressway fees in Uttar Pradesh would increase by 1.5% to 3.5%, while passenger car owners on national highways may experience an increase of up to 10%.
